Microchipping in Ireland

In the Republic of Ireland, it is a requirement that all dogs over the age of 12 weeks are microchipped. In Northern Ireland, dogs should be microchipped at 8 weeks of age. Please note that dogs may be microchipped before the age of 8 weeks so while they may be microchipped, that does not mean they are old enough to be sold.

The following Microchip Databases are used in the Republic of Ireland:

  • Animark
  • Fido
  • IKC
  • Irish Coursing Club) either

Please read the legislation on microchipping in the Republic of Ireland at: Microchipping Of Dogs Regulations 2015
