❄️ About the Pack
Can you introduce us to your Huskies? Names, ages, and one word that best describes each of their personalities?
- Zelda – 10.5 devious
- Link – 3 dopey
- Midna – 2 energetic
What made you fall in love with the Siberian Husky breed in the first place?
I was a new mum and wanted a family friendly dog that would make me be more active, I found Zelda & after doing some research on the breed and reading about their friendly nature and the fact they are not over protective I thought we would be a perfect match. However, it really was Zelda with all her quirks, good and bad that made me fall in love with the breed.
Was it always the plan to have three Huskies? How did your pack grow?
Definitely NOT haha. Zelda is an amazing dog and in some ways wasn’t what is expected of the breed, this lulled me into a false sense of security.. I had pestered my husband to let me get another dog for years and finally when Zelda was 7 years old he gave in. This is when I fell in love with Link. I drove hours to Enniskillen to get him and boy was that a trip! He screamed like a goose the whole way home.
Zelda adored him from the second she met him. It was chaos but in the best way. Fast forward a year, Link is booked in to get neutered and just before this as if it were an act of defiance Midna was made.
It was never an option and I was never not going to keep a pup so this is how Midna was added to our growing family.
What’s something unique or quirky about each of your dogs?
Zelda will snatch a bird out of the sky, she has a higher bird count than my cat.
Link is terrified of small things – small dogs, babies and as we found out, if our eldest child crouches in a ball and makes her self small.
Midna does not like the word no and will argue with me all night and loudly at that.
🏡 Life with Huskies + Family
What does a typical day in your house look like with three Huskies, two kids, and a husband? Be honest – is there ever peace and quiet?
Peace and quiet, what’s that? Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning, as you can imagine hairs everywhere, if I’m not being shouted at by the kids it’s the dogs.
My day is pretty much just keeping all 6 house members happy and from wrecking the house by keeping them busy but as I say to anyone who asks how I manage, I really do thrive off chaos, I don’t think I’d be happy in a quiet household.
How do your kids get along with the Huskies? Are they partners in crime or chaotic energy squared?
Absolutely partners in crime, my eldest is desperate to add a fourth and the first animal noise my one year old made was woof.
All 5 of them adore running around the local private dog field “the dog meadow” together and the dogs adore the kids probably because they always sneak them food they shouldn’t be having.
Do the Huskies respond differently to each member of your family? Who’s the “favourite”?
The Girls, Zelda and Midna listen to me the most, I’d like to think I am their favourite, although Zelda is her own girl and Midna is my partner in crime, Link however is a daddy’s boy all over. He would look through me a lot of the time if I ask him something.
They all respond differently to the kids it’s as if they know to be gentle with them.

🚶♀️ Exercise, Training & Husky Habits
How much exercise do your Huskies need in a day—and how do you keep up with them?
A LOT, but it’s not all walks like everyone thinks. Enrichment and training to keep these guys’ brains busy is so, so important as you never want a bored husky. Bored = destructive.
Walks are obviously a big part of it and these guys pull like trains. We use double ended rope leads and if I’m walking them alone, I belt them around me and off we go, 30/40 mins a day, 2/3 times a week. They also get 50 mins of off lead play in the private dog field I spoke about earlier.
For enrichment, we love snuffle mats, hide and seek toys and long lasting chews, they get at least one of these a day. All of this along with constant play sessions with each other in the back garden, by the time we settle down at 8pm for the night they are ready to relax!
Huskies are known escape artists. Ever had a Great Escape incident? What happened?
Too many to tell you about, Zelda is the resident escape artist in this household I honestly couldn’t count how many times she’s escaped – her most recent one was digging a hole under the oil tank to climb out to freedom.
However, the funniest one was one night when out for her nightly toilet session she legged it (how I still don’t know) and she followed a couple home from the pub. I was in my car driving up and down the streets screaming her name and my husband was searching the areas my car couldn’t go. Then, I checked my phone and had received a message on Facebook; a photo… of Zelda laying (not a care in the world), on someone’s couch. This was all while we, her ‘pawrents’ were out searching.
When we went to collect, they reluctantly gave her back to us as they had fallen in love with her and lets face it, who could blame them.
What are the biggest challenges of owning a Siberian Husky that new owners might not expect?
The stubbornness. People talk about this but I was definitely not prepared for the level of how much they do not care what you say.
Huskies definitely were put on this earth to humble us
🐕🦺 The Breed Behind the Beauty
There’s no denying Huskies are stunning. Do you get stopped often on walks? What’s the most common question strangers ask?
We get stopped a lot especially when I’m out with all 3. Mine love the attention so we don’t mind.
The most common thing said, albeit more of a statement is “I bet they take some walking” or the million comments about their beautiful eyes.
What is a myth or common misconception about Huskies you’d like to bust?
They ARE trainable I dislike when people say you can’t train huskies because of the stubbornness.
Yes, its hard… VERY hard, but they are smart.. too smart! But with persistence and consistency you can train them. They might not want to do it all the time but you get my point.
If someone’s thinking about getting a Siberian Husky, what’s the one thing they absolutely need to know?
They really aren’t like most dogs – they don’t live for our approval, and while they are affectionate, its mostly only on their terms. This is what can make training hard.
Leave your ego at the door with these guys. Find something that motivates them and be consistent.

🛋️ Home Life & Husky Shenanigans
How do you handle grooming with three double-coated snow machines? Tips or must-have tools?
Get a husband that does it for you haha, no seriously the blow out seasons are NOT fun, an undercoat brush and a henry hoover are your new best friend.
We’ve been through our fair share of hoovers and the only one to withstand the husky hair and the kids is the Henry I swear by him.
Any favourite Husky howls? Do your dogs ‘talk’ a lot? Can they have conversations with your kids?
Zelda doesn’t talk but the other two sure make up for it.
My favourite howl is Midna’s – it sounds like she says “yeah yeah yeah” when I tell her off for trying to steal my crisps. Link however, if he feels like he hasn’t been acknowledged enough, will just shout just to remind us he’s here.
The kids haven’t figured out how to start the dogs off but goodness help me when they do.
Do they have a favourite spot in the house, or are they couch surfers with no boundaries?
Oh we definitely have boundaries although they’d maybe tell you different. The living room on their vet bedding or the rug is probably their happy place as this is where they spend the evenings with us.
❤️ Heartwarming Moments
Can you share a moment when your Huskies surprised you with their intelligence or emotional intuition?
When my eldest was a baby and Zelda was still only a pup, Zelda used to block the stairs off to stop her trying to climb them if ever the gate was open, I always thought this was amazing.
Have your Huskies changed your family life or taught you something unexpected?
They’ve taught me to enjoy the chaos, life is perfectly imperfect and that’s ok
🎉 Quickfire Round

- Midna would be an actress because she’s sassy and demanding.
Closing
If you could say one thing to your Huskies that they’d truly understand, what would it be—and why?
Thank you for being the best dogs.
As our conversation came to a close, one thing was crystal clear—life with three Siberian Huskies
and two young kids is anything but ordinary. It’s a whirlwind of fur, laughter, muddy paws, and
unforgettable moments. The chaos is real, but so is the love.
From daily walks that feel more like mini-adventures to the unexpected ways the huskies have
taught patience, resilience, and joy to the entire family, it’s a lifestyle built on connection—between
animals and humans, siblings and pets, parents and pups.
If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s possible to juggle a full house of high-energy dogs and small
children, this family is living proof that it’s not only possible—it can be deeply rewarding. Sure,
things get messy. But in that mess is something beautiful: a home full of movement, noise, and love.
So whether you’re a dog lover, a parent, or someone dreaming of adding a Husky to your life, we
hope this story offered a true glimpse into the beauty and chaos of their world—and maybe even
inspired you to welcome a little more adventure, heart, and wild joy into your own.
